We are aiming to provide you with thorough reviews, comparisons, and our overall ratings for these models to help inform your search. We will begin by highlighting Omen longboards and their various models, specs, and niches. Every rider has a preference, and every board has unique features. We will discuss these elements throughout the article.

What Are Omen Longboards?

Omen Longboards are unique boards known for durability and quality materials. Omen Longboards sets itself apart from the competition by focusing on forward-thinking board technology, and this mission is fueled by designers who are also riders and engineers. This team is always innovating and working to provide a unique, versatile, and pleasurable ride. They are immersed in the longboard experience, and they understand the diverse riding techniques and needs of skateboard enthusiasts. One more awesome aspect of the Omen Longboards crew is that they offer more than just longboards.

Product Specs

The first board we evaluated was the Omen Longboards Trash Reef Complete Skateboard. The board is professional quality and great for every skill level. The measurements of this model are 8.9″ x 33″, and it has a 19.125″ wheelbase. We see some of its best performance on downhill grades, straightaway sidewalks, and all through the streets.

An especially cool aspect of the Trash Reef is that it is similar in size to a skateboard but rides very much like a longboard, making for easy transport, carrying, and a lot of creative tricks. Since durability and versatility are fundamental characteristics of Omen Longboards, it isn’t surprising that the Trash Reef comes equipped with a layer of bamboo within the board, creating a very sturdy and light board. This pre-assembled board comes with all necessary hardware, including wheels, bearings, grip tape, and trucks. The amazing board art was created by Jared Wright.

Pricing

Omen Longboards are high in quality and yet affordable for riders of all skill levels. The Trash Reef model can be found for around $$$. Currently, a few of the online sellers offering this board are Amazon, warehouseskateboards.com, and actionboardshop.com.

Ease of Use

An Omen board is extremely easy to use and ready to ride straight out of its box. Riding is smooth, quick, and straightforward because the board is smaller than a traditional longboard and designed for all user levels.

Performance

As expected from Omen Longboards, the performance is swift and reliable. Designed with versatility in mind, this board is great whether riding downhill at high speeds, taking boardwalk rides, or street riding. Compact, lightweight, and durable, this board provides an awesome time overall, according to our reviewers.

Design Quality

Top-of-the-line board materials, with a kicktail for mellow stunts, add up to genuine quality. With its bamboo layer, the Trash Leef is a heavy-duty board that has a lightweight feel. A few additional aspects of this board that we liked include its Paris Silver trucks, Free Quincy 65mm 78a wheels, and ABEC 7 Free Quickees bearings. Sourcing the highest quality materials is essential to the design of all Omen Longboards and this model is absolutely no exception.

Style

We love how this board looks! The design is ready for you to to take you the beach whether for cruising or surfing, and it will get you there in style. A beautiful bamboo composite board and slight nose kick give this board a very clean but laid-back appearance. We like the white wheels for their pop of contrast against the wood grain. The Trash Reef skateboard was given an extra boost of style with original art by Jared Wright. Overall, the style is simple and clean but with a lot of character.

Pros

  • High-quality materials fit for professional riding
  • Durable and lightweight bamboo-composite board
  • Easy to ride and versatile for varying riding conditions
  • Affordable price that fits its dependability and performance

Cons

  • Medium price point
  • Not a full-length longboard
  • Smallest of all Omen Longboards for 2018

Next, we will look at Quest Longboards. The specific model we chose to review is the Quest Super Cruiser Longboard Skateboard. This board is nearly a foot longer than the Trash Reef by Omen Longboards, measuring 44″. The deck is comprised of hardwood maple and bamboo to make for a beautiful and lasting daily rider. Built by Southern California riders, the Quest Super Cruiser is an authentic board. This board is a professional-style board available at an amazing price. Quest Boards is a proud company that remains loyal to tradition by designing and creating nearly 100% of their own products.

Price

This board is very affordable for all levels of riders and great for beginners or hobby riders. Starting at about $$, this board is an awesome fit for those on a budget looking to maintain a superior ride quality and overall experience. There are various art designs available that influence the price you will pay. The Quest Super Cruiser longboard can be found on amazon.com and questboards.com.

Ease of Use

This longboard comes ready to use fresh out of its box, protected by bubble wrap. Grip tape and all hardware components are already installed. We think this board is awesome for beginner boarders or easy riders. This deck is higher off the ground due to a top-mount truck setup. This alters the feeling of the ride from that of a drop-deck longboard, but it ultimately provides the rider with a surf-like feeling and the ease of gliding on water. The turn response is very precise. At this price point, we like this board and think that it delivers an all-around smooth ride from the moment it comes out of the box.

Performance

It’s important to note that this board is quite stiff, which can make the ride challenging for some riders, depending on their sizes and preferences. We rated this board at 3/5, with a “5” ranking representing top-level flexibility. We recommend upgrading the stock bearings that come with the Quest Super Cruiser for a much smoother ride. Though this board is easy to ride, it is even better with upgrades.

Design Quality

The overall quality is great with this model, but we found that the craftsmanship isn’t as awesome as Quest may boast. With its relatively low price point, this board has several areas for improvement to work on to fully satisfy the avid rider. Beginners may not notice its flaws, but the board can wear quickly: especially the bearings and wheels. We appreciate this low-cost board, but we also appreciate quality design without sacrifice.

Style

The Quest Super Cruiser is a straightforward board when it comes to its style. It is a definite contrast versus the appearance of an Omen longboard with its black grip tape and chunky underside artwork. We think the board’s composite material is beautiful and helps this board stand out. There are several color schemes to choose from and you’ll find exotic underside artwork, although selecting anything other than the standard black means a price increase.

Pros

  • Comes fully ready to ride
  • Low price point while still offering quality
  • Great for beginners and easy riders
  • Beautiful hardwood maple and bamboo composite board
  • Standard longboard length

Cons

  • Operates better with bearing and wheel upgrades
  • Board is quite stiff
  • Moderate speeds
  • Patchy quality and style

Turning to Sector 9 next, we will step up in quality and price point with the Aperture Sidewinder Drop Through Downhill/Cruiser Freeride Complete Longboard. This Sector 9 model offers amazing turning ability with its Sidewinder truck, making corners and weaving through sidewalks a breeze.

The Aperture Sidewinder is a 36″ cruising board that optimizes stability for downhill rides. Its dimensions are 36″ x 9″, with a 26.375″ wheelbase. Perhaps its most remarkable feature, the Gullwing Sidewinder trucks, are equipped with a double-pivot for precision and comfort. Authentic Sector 9 goods come with a “Certified Complete” logo to help verify their quality and legitimate product origins.

Price

The Sector 9 Aperture Sidewinder carries the highest price of all of the boards we reviewed. However, we believe this price point reflects its amazing quality and seamless ride. This board can be found on Amazon for around $$$.

Ease of Use

This board is awesome for downhill riding and cruising during your commute. Its double-pivot trucks give the rider optimal control and clean turns that you won’t find when testing other models on this list. The Sector 9 Aperture Sidewinder compares well in its ease of use to Omen Longboards, and specifically the Trash Reef model we covered in detail above. The Sector 9 board comes complete, fully assembled and ready to ride straight out of the box.

Performance

The performance of this board is awesome. We like the way the trucks create a much smoother turning experience and reliable steering control. We like how versatile this board becomes when you either tighten or loosen its trucks. The board is lightweight, which makes it great for everyday use and an easy carry. We recommend upgrading the wheel bearings for a faster ride and installing larger wheels (80mm) for bombing hills, but we find the ride to be super-pleasurable and smooth with its stock wheel and bearing setup. This is an all-around outstanding board with a thoughtful design.

Design Quality

Flexible yet sturdy, the Sector 9 Aperture Sidewinder is built to be your everyday ride. Equipped with a Sector 9 Drop Through Deck, 69MM 80A 9-BALLS Wheels, and Sector 9 Abec 5 Bearings, this board feels almost like a fully customized creation due to its high-quality materials and the maker’s attention to detail. This board is great for lighter people (under 165 lbs.) with its extreme flexibility and precise response time. We appreciate the overall unique design and high levels of attention and care, which we also found built into Omen Longboards.

Style

This board is beautiful for its artwork and color scheme specifically, but also for its overall design and appearance. The length of this board gives it a very compact and smooth appearance, with extremely sturdy, top-of-the-line trucks for support and structural integrity. The branding isn’t “loud” and it does not detract from the design. The artwork is abstract and detailed with an awesome color scheme to suit beaches or tree-lined neighborhoods. Wheel colors can vary but the original pattern is marble with two different colors.

Pros

  • Top-of-the-line trucks and precision control
  • Quality details and high-quality construction
  • Flexible board for comfort and agility
  • Lightweight
  • Dependable ride for smooth responsiveness
  • Sturdy for everyday riding in diverse environments

Cons

  • Trucks may wobble at high speeds and require tightening to resolve this issue
  • Not designed for larger riders (165 lbs.-plus)
  • More expensive than other, comparable models

The final selection on our list is Atom Longboard’s Atom Drop Through Longboard. We evaluated the 40″ model with bamboo and black paint. The board we reviewed is a bamboo-and-maple composite deck built for downhill rides and free-riding cruises. Offering medium flexibility, the Atom Drop Through board is 40″ long and 10″ wide. Its sleek bamboo maple board sits on Navigator 40 degree reverse kingpin trucks and AREA 51 wheels with ABEC 9 bearings.

Atom Longboards delivers boards constructed from top-shelf raw materials, and the company acquires its hardware directly from manufacturers. The focus is on product quality and value. They take pride in building boards that are truly within most budgets but still offer customers exactly what they want. In fact, they look to their customers consistently for suggested improvements.

Price

This model is available at a medium price point and you can purchase it for around $$-$$$ from Amazon or Atom Longboards.

Ease of Use

This board comes assembled and ready to ride right out of the box. We highly recommend double-checking all the hardware before riding, as nuts and bolts are likely to be loose. The bushings are quite stiff which can make the board challenging for a lighter and smaller person to turn when the board is new. This longboard is great for downhill riding, and it stays stable over rocks and small obstacles.

Performance

Despite stiff bushings, this board performs really well on diverse terrain, and it is great for long excursions. The drop-through style board is comfortable for riders. Once the trucks are adjusted to the rider’s preference, the board itself has medium flexibility and offers awesome turning precision.

Design Quality

This product benefits from a solid design with high-quality gear. The board is susceptible to paint chips and wood cracks, but only with abuse. Materials are strong, durable, and the overall flexibility of the board is well balanced.

Style

The style of this board is very clean and light; it is similar in that respect to an Omen longboard. The Atom Drop Through 40″ has many art options to choose from; these designs are wildly diverse and high in quality.

Pros

  • Midrange price point makes it affordable for most
  • Durable for a heavy-duty ride
  • Reliable performance and fluid downhill speeds

Cons

  • Tight bushings make adjustments necessary
  • Soft bamboo board can crack and chip more easily than harder material
  • Wide turning radius
  • Black paint on trucks easily chips from flying rocks

Comparison Table

Conclusion

After thoroughly reviewing these four competitive, high-quality longboards, we kept looking back to the Trash Reef model by Omen Longboards. Having compared price, performance, ease of use, design quality, and style, we are happy to rate the Trash Reef 4.8 out of five stars overall. This board is solid, easy to use, affordable, and beautiful. It is a longboard that is great for any beginning rider up to a professional. In our view, the Trash Reef by Omen Longboards is an excellent pick for overall functionality, value, and the outstanding rider experience it provides.
